What is Montessori Program?

Method created by physician

Montessori Program was created by Maria Montessori. She was a physician, educator, and innovator. She observed children, and created her educational method that builds on the way children learn naturally.
Maria Montessori opened the first Montessori school called “Casa dei Bambini” or “Children’s House” in Rome on January 6th, 1907. She traveled the world and wrote extensively about her approach to education, attracting many devotees. Since then there are thousands of Montessori schools in many countries.

Prepared environment

Montessori Program provides prepared environment for children. There are shelves that fills out with work for each age and stage. Each work is designed to work individual, and attract children. All work in the shelves are hands on. Children try it, and succeed their skills.

What is different from general program?

In the Montessori Program, we provide environment and choice for children, then children choose what to work, what to challenge, instead of we give them certain activity. Children learn how to become independent.

What children learn?

In our program, toddlers learn how to take care of self, such as washing hands, potty, eating, opening lunch and putting away, putting shoes on and so on. Young children in our care also receive care from older friends and adult. They will know how to care of younger friends once they are older age.

Preschool age children continue learning self care, also learn how to help younger children, how to communicate with friends. Preschool children also learn the skills to prepare for kindergarten, such as read their name or friend’s name, practice pencil control, scissors, how to respect others and environment.
